It was pending a deserved tribute to his memory and we want to host on it all people who knew him and learned with him, as in the professional field of bioethics as in the personal or spiritual field.

The event will take place in Barcelona, Thursday 7th June at 6’30 p.m. - Auditorium of Edifici Docent of Sant Joan de Deu- Esplugues de Llobregat (Barcelona).

DECEASE OF DR. FRANCESC ABEL I FABRE, s.j.

Unfortunately, 2012 starts with sad news for our institution, because Dr. Francesc Abel i Fabre, s.j. died last 31th December, at the age of 78 years old.  He was the pioneer of European Bioethics, after being educated in the USA, at Georgetown, side by side of Dr. André Hellegers, while the Kennedy Institute of Ethics was founded. He set up our centre in Catalonia, in 1976, and he was one of the founders of our European Association of Centres of Medical Ethics, in 1986, institution in which he has been involved and participated throughout these 25 years. He developed bioethics around the world, with the International Study Group on Bioethics (1980-1994), and has been a reference for development bioethics in Latin America.

The last two years his health has been very delicate, and has kept him away from playing an active role in the Institute… It has been a hard setback for all of us and for Bioethics discipline, in Spain, Europe and the world.

His legacy will remain after 35 years of Bioethics in Catalonia, Spain and Europe, and we’ll try to keep it alive working hard in the educational and research field on Bioethics at the head of the Institute.

Rest in peace beloved Francesc!

Aristos Campus Mundus 2015

The 2015 Aristos Campus Mundus project, promoted by the Universities of Ramon Llull, Deusto and Comillas, has been awarded the qualification of Campus of International Excellence in the European regional category in the Ministry of Education’s 2011 call for applications. In May of 2010, these universities formed a strategic aggregation to present the 2015 Aristos Campus Mundus project through an advanced strategic cooperation agreement with Georgetown University, Boston College and Fordham University. The aim of 2015 ACM is to foster excellence in academics and research while achieving full glocalisation of their university projects which call for a joint commitment to responsible and sustainable social innovation.
